There are probably a million résumé templates available to download on the web.
Microsoft word alone has hundreds.
But which one is best for you?
Or should I say, which one is best suited for you right now?
Or, which one is best suited for the job you are applying for?
I would suggest starting with a blank word document to build your résumé. But If you would prefer to download a template, lets discuss how to find the right one for someone about to complete a DVS in Furniture Finishing.
First of all, a résumé is not a Curriculum Vitae (C.V.).
A Curriculum Vitae is a document containing all your career and work experience and accomplishments.
A résumé is a summary of your accomplishments and experience that will showcase your aptitudes, competencies, and strengths in order to get a job interview.
A résumé for a new furniture finisher should (be)
- one page only
- uncluttered
- state your Objective
- showcase your skills (POW!)
- have information easily found by the readers eyes

Note how your eye is drawn to marketed information.
Below is a template that can be used to model to copy.
It needs editing and choices will have to be made in order to make it as effective as the one above.
Now it is time to start writing your résumé. It would be a good Idea to also make one in French non?
